Comment: I so enjoyed visiting your site. My mother, Sarah Opal Lewis, was a member of the Bengal Guards and she spoke often of the group, the discipline, the fun, the cameraderie. Her pride in the group and tireless leaders always came through in her facial expressions, eyes, and body language. Thank you for sharing. God Bless

I'm the Band Director at West Orange-Stark Middle School and really enjoy this site. In the WO-S MS Band Hall, we are still using a few of the instruments Mr. Stark bought for the Guards and I believe that the WO-S High School Band is still using a few of them as well. I wish you all well and hope to meet many of you in the future.

My mother graduated from Stark High School in 1950 and has several brothers and sisters still living in Orange and Port Arthur. I found this page by doing a google search for Orange Texas Bengal Tigers. Mom will be interested to know that I found your site. It is very well done and very informative about the program.

My Mother, Leona Robicheaux, was a charter member. I have her scrap book pages with many articles intact. She understated the importance of her involvement, but I believe her membership in the corps made her the strong and successful woman she became.

I received my copy of the video taken at the reunion yesterday. It is the icing on the cake. It was so well done that I just relived the whole event. I know those who didn't get to go will enjoy seeing it and feel as tho they were there.

This was a wonderful piece of memorabilia. I got it by accident (my brother found it while doing geneology work), and I have sent it to 5 or 6 former members of the Bengal Guards. Thanks a lot. Marjorie Strawther

I received a surprise Xmas present from my son. It is the Life Magazine issue of Oct. 14, 1940 with the pictures of the Bengal Guards in it. He also bought a copy for my sister Elizabeth. He was told that "Chris" still has 4 of the magazines left in case anyone is interested. The Web site is www.OldLifeMagazines.com or you can e-mail chris@OldLifeMagazines.com. Isn't the internet great!

What an absolute delight to discover your website. Sure brought back fond memories for me. One of my fondest memories was taking the train to Dallas to perform during half time. I believe the teams playing were the Dallas Texans and the New York Giants. I feel truly privileged to have been a part of that great institution! Thank you for sharing this information!

I have a picture of a squad of Helican Bases made around 1957-58. By then they were held together with chewing gum and scotch tape. If you would like I could copy it for you.

Too bad this site doesn't show videos of what I have seen from your home movies of the Bengal Guards. Love, Monie

I thoroughly enjoyed your site, as Smitty Hustmyre was my aunt, and I heard many times of her work with the Bengal Guards.
